Interior or Exterior – Wood Entry Doors
Stain-grade hardwood doors continue to be extremely popular and give your home a warm and inviting look while providing the most options for customization, such as carving, addition of wrought iron scroll-work and glass inserts.
Wood is susceptible to the effects of the sun, moisture, and outdoor elements. If not properly cared for, wood will deteriorate and is generally not a good idea in areas or locations with exposure to harsh outdoor elements. Without overhang protection (large covered porch or portico), hardwoods with a south, southwest, southeast or western exposure requires more frequent maintenance. Wood exposed to extreme situations can experience finish deterioration, color fading, wood splitting, warping, wood joint separation, and other problems. Even when protected under overhangs it still requires occasional maintenance and may need to be refinished every two to five years.
